Match Report

Knockers narrowly beat Otford by 3 runs in a thrilling game which ended in the last over and proved that friendly cricket can be just as exciting as its league counterpart

The visitors chose to bat and accumulated runs steadily. Openers Paul Styles and Charlie Irwin laid the foundation which was built upon by Paul Seldon who made 58 not out in his individual languid style. Ed Irwin showed some urgency with his 40 as the pair added 102 for the fourth wicket.

Knockers declared on 208-4. Best figures for Otford were returned by M Young with 2-24 although Alex Smith bowled well with 1-33.

David Howarth (56) gave the hosts a good start and Yound contributed 31. Cory Thompson continued the good work assisted by the middle order who all made double figures.

At 151-3 Otford were in a strong position but Ed Irwin had Richard Smith leg before and the returning LyndenSpencer-Allen bowled Thomson for 53. At the other end the persevering Andy Darry took two wickets in the penultimate over to be rewarded with a 5 wicket haul before Spencer-Allen bowled number eleven to win the match for knockers.
