Staplehurst
93-10
Knockers
97-3
Knockers won the toss and elected to field against Staplehurst, who started well with the score nearing 50 when they lost their first wicket to a sharp return catch by Ben Cobb (1-27). This though did not slow the momentum until the introduction of Dan Turner, who decimated the Staplehurst middle-order, and the middle stump, with a ferocious spell of left arm pace bowling, claiming deserved figures of 5 for 16. Ken Cowan’s (2-30) miserly medium pace helped contain the flow of runs, before Guthrie ‘Wilma Fudd’ Miller (2-0) wrapped up the tail.
In reply Knockers lost the early wicket of Stuart Seldon (9) who tickled one through to the keeper, but a steady innings by Tom Cobb (21) and chanceless knock by Geoff Smith (21) saw Knockers near the target. Alex Cooper saw Knockers home with a well-made 35* giving Knockers a comfortable 7 wicket victory and ending the season on a high.
