Match Report

In a far more interesting match than the bare figures reveal, Knockers failed to winkle out the home side. We got off to a flying start through Stuart (61 - shame no one told him that he had reached a half century until he got back to the hutch) and Sam Spink who played a series of fine shots in the V (27). As night follow days though, there was a dramatic collapse despite a fine second wicket partnership of 44 between Stuart and Geoff, Geoff scoring a high class 3. Cookie, the skipper, Grant and Ben all followed in quick session until Ed and Will launched a dashing counterattack to post a respectable score.

The Knockers attack then took the game to Tunbridge but without much luck. Will bowled a fine spell, beating the bat every second ball, but getting no reward. Ben, bowling considerably faster than Linden, and was rewarded with a wicket. However, the openers did manage to soften up the batting for Ed to reap swift rewards, although it’s a shame he deliberately avoided a jug. Ken also put in a very nice spell and but for some rather dubious fielding from a Mr Cobb, would have been far better rewarded.

In the end, a draw was just about fair, as we weren’t good enough to get them out.
